PAHIATUA, This Day. : Captain White, of Hastings, flying a Spartan 'plane, was on his way to Martinborough...yesterday, when he encountered rough weather. : Owing to poor visibility he made a forced landing, --without damage, on the property of >lr J. D, Mathews, at Mangahao, about five miles from Pahiatua. He intended to leave again when theweather cleared. -. Captain: White was accompanied by Mrs Richmond, of the Hawke’s Bay Ac ip Club, who is herself a pilot., Captain White resumed his flight shortly after pine o ’clock.

Captain M. Backlog, of Wigtaija Aerodrome, who called at Blenheim to refuel while en route to the pageant at Wellington, had the misfortune to crash in his machine, one of the (Boater (Bebcs, when taking off from the Woodburn aerodrome. After a short run, the Scout took the air, but became uncontrollable a few feet up and crashed, crumpling the left wing and propeller and doing other damage, the pilot tfras uninjured.
