POLL TAX DEFAULTERS
NATIVE COMPOUNDS RAIDED

Police raids on native compounds at Durban resulted in the arrest of .savs eral natives for non-payment of -iMp poll tax. The trouble is said to he fomented by Communist agents from Russia, but a native professor blames over-taxa-tion and over-charges for compound' beer.
It is anticipated that demonstrations against native bills will begin in January.
