UNITED PARTY’S CANDIDATE. MR J. KERR CHOSEN. (Per Bread Association. —Copyright.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Mr James Kerr, of Petonc, will be the official United Party candidate ii the forthcoming Hutt by-election, his nomination having been endorsed by the Dominion Executive and the Lead cr, Sir Joseph Ward, last night.
The candidate is a son of ihe late Hon. James Kerr M.L.C. and is the proprietor of the “Hutt and Petone Chronicle.”
MB A, J. MURDOCH’S CHANCER. In conversation with the Hon. J. G Cobbo, Minister of Industries and Com merce, yesterday, a representative of the “Northern Advocate” suggested , that owing to the ponding retirement of the Hon. T. M. Wilford, K.C. changes in the Cabinet were likely. Whilst admitting that some changer Would probably be made, the Minister ‘ said that nothing would be done immediately. Asked as to the possible appointment to Cabinet rank of Mr A. J. Murdoch, the member for Marsden, the Minister smilingly said that he could hot give any definite opinion, but he eoneluded ' with the significant remark: “He if' the Senior Government Whip, you know.”
