THE RECITAL OF THE DANCE
’ MISS RELIT A’S PUPILS. On the evening of Tuesday, November 26, Miss Pelita will present her pupils to a Whangarei audience at the Town Hall, in a Recital of . the Dance. Over 80 children, ranging from 34 years to advanced senior pupils, will participate and a rare night of charm is promised. Miss Pelita has a very wide repertoire,, and the remarkable power she possesses of instilling her knowledge into others, combined with her wonderful patience with the small people, is producing results that will astound, and delight the, audience at her recital.
The programme will embrace terpsichorean flights of fancy hitherto unknown in Whangarei, some of the dances, Grecian, classic, fancy and themes being exquisite in the highest degree. Folk dgnees, historic, national humorous, will be presented, as well as the last word in modern ballroom crazes. An authentic English folk dance dating back to 1642 is a jewel, and another, danced by the ' Breton fisher folk in 1740, bears it company. A pas soul sur la pointe is altogether entrancing, and equally delightful is a minuet with tiny cupids. “Adagio,” from L’Amour Tonjeurs L’Amour, is charmingly executed by senior girls and is altogether a melting moment that will linger long in the memory. The Indian Love Call is danced by Miss Pelita herself to a vocal accompaniment by Miss Freda Skellern. This is a beautiful lyric, daintily expressed in a poetry of motion.
Short descriptions of some of the numbers on the programme will he given in this column from time to time in order that the public may gather an inkling of the pleasures in store for them on the 26th. 801
