EARLY MORNING BLAZE
THREE PLACES DESTROYED,
(Per Press Association.—Copyright.) TAUMABUNUI, This Day,
Fire, at three o'clock this morning at Owhango, resulted in the destruction of three buildings. The fire commenced at the rear of the Commercial Hotel, an 18-roomed building, and spread rapidly to an adjoining empty shop and dwelling of five rooms, and to a six-roomed,dwel-ling occupied by A. Johnston.
In the absence of a. water supply and fire-fighting appliances, the three premises mentioned were totally destroyed. The blaze spread so rapidly that the Johnstons escaped with only a few personal effects.
The hotel was unoccupied and was being renovated. The insurances on the hotel are unavailable. On the unoccupied shop and dwelling, owned by T. J. (McKee, the insurance is £l5O. Johnston’s house, owned by O. R. Holm, Auckland, was insured but the amount is unavailable. Johnston had a i cover of'£lso on his furniture. •
