ROME’S DENIAL SCOUTED
CORRESPONDENT'S STORY,
AUTHENTIC ACCOUNT

Despite Romo’s denials of the attempt on the life of Signor Mussolini, the "Petit Nieois, ’’ a paper printed at Nice, publishes an account by a correspondent, who spent ten days in Italy investigating the affair. The correspondent says that on October 10 Signor Mussolini, accompanied by others, motored to Ostia. Signor Mussolini, quite by chance, travelled in the Ministers’ car instead of his own. Later, upon his arrival at Ostia, his car was fired on and his secretary was hit on a thigh by a rifle bullet.
Police immediately searched/the onlookers and it was finally revealed that a Fascist officer was guilty. He con- | fessed and was executed the same evening without trial. NEWSPAPER PERTURBED. (Received 11.41 a.m.) ROME, November 13. “We are ready to give £IOOO to anybody giving the name of the officer supplying the details of the attempted assassination,” says the "Giornale d’ltalia,” categorically denying the report.
