TERMS OF SETTLEMENT.
CREW WIN ON ALL POINTS

The agreement by which the Lavvbeath is being worked refers to the crew of the steamer and provides that the men be paid New Zealand wages and work under New Zealand conditions until the steamer leaves Port Chalmers. The man iu prison is to bo released and join ithe ship and the menu is to ibe in accordance with New Zealand ships. No charges are to'be made afterwards against'the crew and no loss of wages suffered as the result of the dispute.

Regarding the agreement come to by the Disputes Committee at Wellington conceding the concessions asked for by the crew of the Lawbeath, a clause was added (that it was to be regarded as an isolated case.
It was pointed out here that the wider issue involved, that all ships carrying phosphates from Nauru to New Zealand shall pay New Zealand rates of wages, has not been agreed to. Probably it did not come within the scope of the committee.
