Local officials of the Public Works Department renew ’ assurances that the erosion below the spillway at Arapimi involves no real menace ami laere is ample time available to carry out a precautionary scheme. The present problem was originally foreseen ami diversion tunnels constructed. Certainly erosion has been much more rapid than anticipated and the construction of additional penstocks, which were part of the main scheme, has been expedited- to assist in carrying off the water. Other precautionary woiks are also being hastened, but Fore is no cause for alarm.
