•CONFERENCE OF FARMERS,

TO MEET NEXT WEEK,

WELLINGTON, This Day,

Mr W, J, Poison, M.P., president of the N.Z. Farmers’ Union has called a National Convention of farmers of New Zealand under the auspices of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union to consider the taxation of Government and decide what representations, if any, are to be made to the Government upon the subject. The tSheepowners’ Federation i& being invited to send such, representation as it thinks desirable to the conference and the provincial unions of the Farmers’ Union have been requested to immediately (get in touch with the various farming and allied organisations , in. their distrist, with a view to sending combined representations to the conference.

The meeting will be held at 9.30 o’clock on ‘Thursday next in Wellington.

The Advisory Committee of the Farmers’ Union will meet on Wednesday to prepare the necessary order paper and Professor Murphy has been retained to. present a clear and uneoloured disposition of the effect of the tax upon the farming community for the information of the conference.
