LICENSING BENCH
ANNUAL MEETING,
The annual meeting of the Marsden Licensing Committee was held at the Whangarei Magistrate’s Court v this morning. The magistrate, Mr G. N. Morris, occupied .the chair, and associated with him ‘on the Bench were Messrs J. H. Hayward, A. H. Curtis, N. Pinlgyaon.. J. E. Holmes and C. R, Lovatt. Inspector Harvey represented, the police. Renewals of licenses wore .granted in connection with the following premiser.: Settlers’ Hotel, Whangarei.—L. E. Haines. . • Whangarei Hotel, —Fred R. Morrison. Commercial Hotel, Cyril R. Powell. • Mangawai Hotel. —H. C. Subritsky. Kamo Hotel.—Permanent transfer from E, Swann to John Morron, and new license graaite,d. Parua Bay. —Ernest Davan, on the understanding that the requirements of the Public Health Department regarding a better water supply, are carried out.
Maungaturoto Hotel —Withheld until next quarterly meeting, (Particulars of the requirements in this ease Will appear in tomorrow’s issue.) Leigh Hotel.—B, Ckiilden. Poroti Hotel.—W. A. Abbott. Warkworth Hotel. —A. Holliday., Puhoi Hotel.—Jas. Titford. Waiwera Hotel. —Wm, Evans. .< A wholesale license was granted to the Simons’ Proprietary) Ltd., The chairman congratulated the licensees of' the electorate oh. the' fine report of the police in respect of their hotels. He had had a lot to do ; with hotels and licensing matters, and the various reports reflected great. credit on those who had the care and management of hotels under their charge. It was desirable, how r evor, that licensees should pay every attention to the requirements of the Public Health Department, especially, in .the matter of fly-proof netting, as in a climate such as North Auckland .this whs'a matter of prime importance. It was not a costly matter, and by the installation of it where required licensees would gain pecuniarily in the long run.
