The opinion was expressed that expenditure must be reduced ami Customs increased. A sub-committee was appointed to go info the matter.
The Chamber also discussed the tourist traffic from Australia, but considered that the steamer service would have to be improved before it could expect an increase. It was alleged- ithat some of the vessels were quite unfit for the purpose.
The matter was referred to the Publicity Committee.
