FLAT LAND SEVERED
THE DRAINAGE OUT. COMPLAINT TO MINISTER. A deputation of Hikurangi-Jordan settlers; recently waited on Mr A. Murdoch, M.P., who is watching the interests of the Bay of Islands electorate until after the by-election, regarding severance of their property by the drainage works. It was stated that in some instances water for stock was completely cut off, and in the case of Mr Murdoch Mcßcth’s estate a large area of flat land was rendered useless.
The Minister of Lands was immediately communicated with, and Jast evening Mr Murdock received telegraphic advice from the Hon G, W. Forbes that he intended visiting the locality early in April, Regarding the construction of a bridge on Mr Mcßeth’s property, the erection of tkis had been delayed pending the receipt of steel joists, which could not be procured locally. The High Commissioner’s office advised at the end of January that material would be shipped at an early date, and the erection would proceed immediately on its arrival.
