HOSPITAL LEVIES
BURDEN ON THE' FARMERS. (Per Press Association.—Copyright.) ASHBURTON, TMs Day. A conference 'of 60 delegates,, representing 40 counties in the South Island, sat at Ashburton yesterday and resolved that as the hospital levies on county councils are a heavy burden on the farming community, this conference is of opinion that the basis should be altered on the one recommended, being 60 per cent on the capital value and 50 per cent on the population.
