The excitement resulting from the students' riots continues. A crowd of 20,000 is tonight parading the main streets. The cafes are barricaded and motor traffic diverted. The students were many times dispersed, but gathered again. Police, mounted and foot, were obliged to make many charges. Two students were seriously wounded. A semi-official statement ascribes the outbreak to the regulations governing university classes, decreed ‘by the Directory. The students claim that if they make enough fuss the Directory will be overthrown and they will be allowed to pursue their studies as they desire.
