SPORT AT CAPE BRETT

WARSHIPS REGATTA

RUSSELL EN FIETE

(Special to “Northern Advocate.’')

RUSSELL, This Day,

Yesterday, off Cape Brett, Lieut. G. G. Peters, of Pcnnyhill Park, Bagshot, Surrey, was successful in catching a deep-sea monster, a mako of 270 lbs., after a very good fight. Yet another hammer-head shark, of 328 lbs,, has been landed by Colonel C. A. K. Johnson, of England and added to the total.

Mr Charles Ap Roger arrived here yesterday by the Clansman, accompanied by Miss Ap Roger, and went out for a few hours. He had some good sport with a 30 lbs kingfish. He has donated a prize for the first and second boats, in the sailing event hold today by H.M.S. Dunedin and Diomede. Miss Ap Roger will present the prizes to the winners. Eight boats-cutters, galleys and whalers are competing. The was ideal for the warship regatta yesterday. H.M.S. Diomede won most points. There were very close finishes to most of the races. In the afternoon the warships were thrown open to the public and a most enjoyable dance was held in the Town Hall in the evening. It was given by the people of Bussell to the officers. There was excellent music by the ship’s jazz band.
