BOROUGH WORKS
COMMITTEE'S REPORT,
The following report of the Works Committee was submitted to the Whangarei Borough Council last evening and adopted:— ! Building By-laws,—Messrs Owen and Morgan’s letter was considered' and your committee recommends that a permit be granted for the present shop and the question of future poposals be dealt with as they occur. Retaining Wall, Railway Road. — Your committee has asked the chairman, Or Jackson and the borough engineer to investigate and report. Hospital Corner, Maunu Road. —Your committee recommends that when conveyance of the corner has been arranged the Works Committee inspect the site and make plans for the lay out, the chairman to have authority to fence at once.
Sower, Lower Cameron Street.—Your committee recommends that the borough engineer bo authorised to proceed with the sewerage of Lower Cameron Street.
Maunu Road. —Your committee recommends that the borough engineer proceed with Maunu Road as soon as James Street surfacing is completed and that two men be employed to cut grass and clean footpaths where necessary.
Unemployment Grant. —Your committee recommends that his Worship the Mayor, the chairman, Cr, Nelson and the borough engineer be a committee to formulate a scheme for spending unemployment grant, if obtained. 'Concrete Mixer. Your committee recommends that the chairman, w’itli his Worship the Mayor and the borough engineer, be authorised to purchase a concrete mixer. Horses—Your committee recommends that the chairman and Cr Nelson make arrangements about horses.
