PLUNGE INTO RIVER

MOTHER AND FOUR CHILDREN,
(Australian Press Association.) (Received 9 a..m.) SYDNEY, October 12; •' Whill; the Rev, Benson, Rector of Bodalla, wag motoring home from vacation tragedy overtook the party. On arriving at 'Clyde River, Bate-, man's Bay, early this morning, Mr Benson mistook the lights and drove into the river. His wife and four children, of ages ranging from nine years to six months, were drowned. The bodies of two hoys and the the girl were recovered, but those of Mrs Benson and the other boy are missing.
UNAVAILING EFFORTS,
(Australian Press Association.) • (Received 12.50 p.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. The Rev. Benson stated that he tried to rescue his wife, but she was held under the car hood by the rushing torrent. He just managed to save himself by forcing open tbe dop’r -trf the submerged car and rising to the surface. He then obtained assistance.
