COAL CONFERENCE
•AjMICABLE SETTLEMEXT. PROBABLE. (Per Press Association—Copyright.) WELLIXGTOX, This Day. The conference is still proceeding with the object oh securing fresh agreements with the coal miners. The position was explained by Mr Bishop, secretary of the Employers’ Federation, today. He says that the conferences at Westport and Auckland reached agreements on many points, but there are one or two matters in the mine owners’ final proposals to which some exception has been taken by the unions. He is of opinion that the position is more a matter of misunderstanding than anything else and than an amicable settlement will be arrived at.
