Following upon re-election of Mr L. Webb to chairmanship of the Whangarei County .Council this afternoon, all committees were elected without alteration.

Webb said the writers made it appear that the council’s policy would reduce the amounts available- for expenditure on the lesser roads. He pointed out that so fat from that being the case, the total amount carried to the riding accounts last year was £15,333, as against £18,401 12s (id this year, an increase of £30(58. There would be available for expenditure in ridings this year £18,401, plus the credit balance o: £400!) Ids Bd, making a total of £22,411 to be divided amongst the ridings, constituting a record in the history of the county.
