PEASANT BLOCKADE

SOVIET EXTORTION.

GRAIN SUPPLIES REFUSED,

3?AIR- TERMS ENFORCED.

(Received 9 a.m.) . LONDON, January 30.

The Moscow correspondent of the “Daily Express’ ’ reports that a reshuffling of posts in the Cabinet is expected, foreshadowing far-reaching changes in the Soviet’s trade policy. The collection of grain from peasants is still a failure, the mass of peasants refusing to sell wheat at the price the State offers, despite coercive measures, including the imprisoning of richer peasants.

As the boycott is causing a goods famine, a new department will be created for tho purpose of buying stocks of cheap manufactures abroad, which will be offered to the peasants in the corn belts at most reasonable prices.

M. Sokolnikoff is likely to havo charge of the new department, which will be merged in the trade commissariat.—A. and N.Z.
