At Westfield yesterday there was an average yarding and a good attendance. Sheep -were penned in increased numbers, but competition was steady and there was little alteration in values. There was a good yarding of calves and good quality beasts sold under competition, but inferior were not wanted. Less than the average number of pigs came forward and bidding was keen, prices being firm. Prices realised were as follows, last week’s being given in parentheses:Sheep (per head). —Prime wethers, 23/ to 26/9 (23/6 to 27/); prime ewes, 14/ to 19/9 (14/ to 20/3); prime lambs, 20/3 to 24/6 (20/ to 25/). Calves (per head). —Pamners, 36/ to 54/ (38/ to 73/); vealers, 30/ to 72/ (30/ to 73/). Pigs (per head). —Baconers, 68/ to 73/ (61/ to 73/); porkers, 43/ to 61/ (43/ to 63/). Messrs Bulgely and Co. report an average yarding of beef at their weekly Westfield stock sales yesterday prices being very firm at last week’s rates. The following are quoted; Extra choice ox sold to 27/ per 1001 b; choice and prime ox, 24/ to 26/; just killablc ox, 21/ to 23/; prime i young cow and heifer beef, 23/; just 'killablc, 20/ to 22/, Alfred Buckland and Sons, Ltd., report:—At our weekly Westfield fat stock market our supply of fat cattle totalled 1 453 head, as compared with 458 at last Wednesday’s market, comprising 195 steers, 258 cows and heifers. The quality was an improvement on last week. There was a steady demand throughout and values were very firm at fully late rates. Extra | choice ox sold to £l/6/ per 1001 b; ! choice and prime ox, £l/4/ to £l/5/6; j secondary and plain ox, £l/2/ to £1 3/6; prime young cow and heifer beef, £l/1/ to £l/4/; ordinary cow beef, 15/ to £1; extra heavy prime steers ranged in price from £ll/10/ to £l2/10/; heavy prime steers, £lO to £ll/7/6; lighter prime steers, £9 to £9/17/6; light prime steers, £3 to £8 17/6; unfinished and small, £5/10/ to £7/15/; extra heavy prime young ( cows and heifers, £7 to £7/17/6; heavy prime young cows and heifers, £5/15/ to £6/17/6; light£7/17/6; heavy pjrime young cows and heifers, £5/15/ 4o £6/17/6; lighter. £4/10/ to £5/12/6; other killablc cows. £3 to £4/7/6; seven extra prime steers from Mr If. Hoed, Waeronga, ■averaged £ll/5/9, and 14 from Mr B. Heed averaged £ll/9/.
