RACES AT KAWAKAWA

ANNUAL MEETING TODAY. \ (Special to “Northern Advocate.”) KAW AKAW.A, 'l'his Day. ; The annual meoeting of the Bay of | Islands Racing Club is being held here 'today in fine weather, with a large attendance and the track in good going order. Results: —

Hokianga Handicap, of 55 sovs; six ; furlongs.—(6) Michael, 8.0, 1; (1) Wee Marble, 8.2, 2; (2) Master Arch, 8.10, 3. Also ran—(3) Si.. Lucas, (7) Electrode, (8) Young Mischief, (5) Adjure, (4) Ivydalo, (9) Star Love. Won by two lengths. Time. —1.19 3-5. Wee Marble, Adjure and Star Love were the quickest to find their foot, leading along the back from a bunched field. When approaching the top "Wee Marble, Adjure, St. Lucas, Michael and Master Arch wore racing in that order. At the turn nto the straight the order was the same. Once the field straightened up in the run to the judge’s box a good race ensued, Michael shooting out at the distance and winning by two lengths, with Master Arch three-quarters of a length further away.

Kaikohe Handicap, of 60 sovs: five furlongs.—(6) Fiery Lad (Conquest!, 7.0, 1; (9) Miss Lueullus (Cammick), 8.0, 2; (1) Bright Dawn (Chaplin), 8.7, 3. Also ran.—(3) Illingar, (5) Lady Lois, (7) Bowman, (10) Just Quietly, (7) Adjuster, (S) Turn, (2) Takurunga, (4) Sandbag. From an even despatch Fiery Lad was the first to show out from the rest of the field, and going along the top he got n break on the rest of the field, Miss Lueullus and Bright Dawn being handiest. The leader was not troubled and went on to win by two lengths, Bright Dawn .being threequarters of a length, further away. Time.—l.2 3-5. KAW AKA W A CUP.
