STEAMER ON FIRE
BRITISH FREIGHTER SCUTTLED. (Received 2 p.m.) NEW YORK, January 21. Tfhen fire damaged the cargo of the British freight steamer Karroo to the extent of a million dollars on Friday, the vessel was scuttled at the pier here to prevent the spread of the ffameS. —A. and N.Z.
The Karroo was in New Zealand waters some time ago.
