BRITISH OPEN TITLE. HAGEN-MITCHELL STRUGGLE. - (Received 2.30 p.m.) LONDON, June 18. In the British open golf championship great interest was evinced in the meeting of Mitchell and Hagen. Mitchell was three up at the end* of' the first round and four up at the end of 36 holes. The American took the lead at the sixth, but Mitchell*; squared the next and took the lead ah the eighth. Hagen won the ninth, turning square}, Four halves followed.. Mitchell won the halved the fifteenth, and won the sixteenth and seventeenth. He halved the eighteenth. Mitchell won the first in the afternoon, halved the second, won the ■ third, halved the .fourth and picked up the ball in the fifth, at which stage he was only four up, but recovered this at the ninth, turning five up. Hagen won the tenth and fourteenth, reducing the deficit to three, but after halves to the eighteenth, where Hagen was waterlogged in the bunker, Mitchell finished the day four up* —Reuter,
