AUCKLAND TROTTING CLUB. WINTER MEETING OPENS. AUCKLAND, This Day. The Auckland Trotting Club’s meeting opened in fine weather with a large attendance and the course in good order. Results; Mangcro Handicap, 1-J miles—(l3) Bawldy Locanda, 3Gy da, 1; (5) Dillon Huon, scr, 2; (7) Ratana, 24yds, 3. Scratched —Lola Recklaw, Maid 'of the Mountains and Billy Whiz. Won by half a head. Time—3.4o 1-5. Winter Handicap, two miles.—(l) Nelson Ata, 24yds, 1; (2) Sister Beatrice, 24yds, 3; (3) Fairlight, scr, 3. Scratched —Some Jazz, Sweet Memory, Trampfast, Kalato and Gold Sovereign. Won by half a length. Time — 5.13 3-5. Campbell Handicap, of 1000 sovs; two miles.—(s) Logan Lou, GO yds, 1; (4) Cardinal Logan, scr, 3; (1) Talaro, scr, 3. Scratched: Bessie Logan, Nita Bell, Dillon Wilkes and Native Chief. Won by a length and a half, with three lengths between second and third. Time—4.46 1-5.

The remaining events on the opening day of the Napier Park Racing Club’s winter meeting resulted as follows.— Ahuriri Hurdles, of 200 sovs; one mile and three-quarters. Ngata, 11.13, 1; Highway, 10.7, 2; Koauau, 10.8, 3. Won by'a length and-a half. All started. Time—3 12 3-5. Settlers’ Handicap, of 125 sovs; six furlongs.—Mime, 9.13, 1; Cohesion, 9.0, 2; Llandudno. 9.8, 3. All started. Won by half a length in 1 15 2-5. The totalisator investments amounted to £12,110, as against £9877 on the first day a year ago, an increase of £2233.—Press Assn.

Scratched: Entire and Mannequin. Won by a long neck. Time—2min 4o l-ssec. Meanee Handicap, of 123 sovs; five furlongs.—(l) Polar-- 1, (2) Essential 2, (10) Jen 3. Scratched: Mali Jong and Merry Imp.
