MUST EE REDUCED BRITISH COAL PRODUCTION. TAXPAYERS' BURDEN ALTERNATIVE. (Received 9 a.m.) LONDON, June 10. In the House of Commons, in reply to questions, Mr Baldwin said he regretted that he was unable to dissent from the conclusion of the Coni Commission ’s report that it would need years to bring into effect all tho measures of reorganisation suggested, while in tho meantime the present hard economic conditions, had to bo faced. The impending disaster could only be averted by an immediate reduction of working costs by means of lower wages or longer hours.

Mr Baldwin added that ho had hoard no alernative proposals for meeting the immediate situation, except that the taxpayers should resume the burden of maintaining the coal industry.—Reuter.
