ROCKEFELLER OFFER

CONFLICTING REPORTS. v

SITUATION ELUCIDATED.

(Received 9 a.m'.) CAIRO, February 16. 'The apparently contradictory reports here and in New York relative to Mr. Rockefeller’s munificent offer to found a museum in Cairo are explained by Mr. Breasted, who in an interview said that the offer was subject to conditions to be accepted by the Egyptian Government. ' While they were being discussed the cabled reports began, the circulation of which necessitated publication of the facts. Mr. Rockefeller might well think that, pending acceptance of the conditions, no definite offer could be considered as made.—Reuter.
