DRY CLEANING AT HOME
VALUABLE HINTS. Many o'f us resort to home dry-clean-ing methods in order to preserve a freshness and spotlessness till the time comes to replace winter garments by summer ones. Furs can be freshened up by a generous rubbing with warm bran. Hub the bran well in, leave the fur rolled up for an hour or two, and then beat it with a small whisk. White furs like ermine are best treated with warm flour. Dark furs may be rubbed gently with a soft cloth dipped in ammonia and water. Benzine is an excellent medium for removing dirt from silks, coloured or otherwise. When using benzine or petrol have ready two bowls and be careful never to work with the spirit near a fire or light. Outside in the open is the best place. Dip your article in the first bowl, squeezing and sousing.it for a few minutes, then plunge it into the second howl and after .squeezing it as dry as possible hang out in the air till all smell is removed.
