INSTITUTE OF HORTICULTURE
SUBSTANTTA L PROGRESS. The New ZefHnd Institute of Horticulture is reported to be making rapid progress all over Xew Zealand. There arr now some seven councils organised, while the membership is well over 300. Tn addition a large number of local bodies and hortieultural societies are affiliated. There are a. number of 'life members, with Professor J. Macmillar! Brown at their lead. The need for sv;iterr>o*!e horticultural education is being kept well to the foie. Reports have been i>reoarcd. nrl it is hoped to present a suggested scheme to the annual conference, which will meet next month at Wellington. Pr L. Cockayne, F.R.S., is president and chairman of the Educational Committee.
