LABOUR MINORITY

AMENDMENT REJECTED.

LIBERALS REMAIN SILENT.

(Special to ft Northern Advocate.") WELLINGTON, This Day.

A division on Mr Holland's no-con-iidence motion was reached in theHouse of Representatives last night; The Liberals were missing when thevoting took place. Mr Atmore remained and voted with the Government, and Mr Poland stayed to vote with Labour.. Thus the state of ;the House was similar to its condition when Labour challenged the Government earlier in the session. The amendment was defeated 1 by 38 votes to 18. As soon as the division was over Mr Ransom, the Liberal Member for Pahiatua, hurried in and continued' the debate, speaking of course to the original motion. Now that Mr Holland's amendment has been defeated and the debate on the original motion is proceeding, members are -looking forward to the ending of the Address-in-Reply discussion, but there are signs that the Liberals are coming into the picture now, and probably the debate will continue till about next Wednesday.
