WAIPORI HOLD-UP
REPLACE MEN RECALLED. GREYMOUTH, This Day.
A meeting of firemen and seamen in the port last night considered the Waipori dispute regarding the firemen's demand for two trimmers for the voyage to Sydney. A telegram was read from Mr. W. T. Young, secretary of the Seamen's Union, that a stop-work meeting in Wellington had passed a resolution recalling the six firemen sent to man the ship in place of the men who had been imprisoned for refusing duty, and directing them not to sign on. Later advice from Mr. Young stated that the Unipn executive would give the matter consideration today.— Press Assn.
