SHIPPING DISPUTATION "BLACK" EMBARGO LIFTED. GUARANTEE CLAUSE UNSETTLED (Received 9.5 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. The Marine Transport Unions group carried 'important resolutions, as. a result of which the shipping, deadlock took a less serious aspect. The first resolution decided that the Commonwealth steamers Dilga and Erpmariga, which have been " black' ? for some time, should be declared ' '-vy-hite." This followed a conference between the Premier and delegates of unions. ■*...• At a later meeting the group decided to declare the North Coast . Company's steamer Hunter "white." This steamer, previously declared "black," was the cause of the men refusing to wort, her at Mort's Dock. Probably the dock will be open again in the course of a few days. With these matters settled the dispute locally resolves itself into a battle between the Seamen's Federation and the interstate companies. The Seamen's Union has notified the owners of interstate vessels that they require a reply by July 14 as to whether i the disputed guarantee clause will be ] inserted in the articles by that date. , The men intend holding a stop-work
meeting, to consider the reply. By that time, however, other, ships ■will be involved, as it is the present intention of the union home port men to give notice on all interstate vessels [ arriving at ports after July 10. This t will ha ve the effect of tying up each steamer in turn, as no response Will tie made to calls for men to take their places.—-A. and N.Z. r OWNERS DECLINE AGREEMENT.
