PERSUASIVE PRISONER
ESCAPES FROM CAPTORS. BURGLAR'S CLEAN GI!T-AWAY. WELLINGTON, This Day. A burglar was caught in a house at Hataitai yesterday afternoon and the place was surrounded by four neighbours. The man, who is strongly built, put up a good fight, but was overpowered and thrown down. He cajoled his captors into letting .him up on the pretence that it was cowardly, as they were four to one, Foolishly they did so, and lie immediately leaped down a bank into the backyard of the next house and was off into the scrub up the hillside before they could get round. Moreover, he took his plunder, in the shape of some valuable rings, with him, and got clear away.—Press Assn.
