INSTRUMENTS DISCARDED.
ANIMAL LIFE DISCOVERED. (Received 9 a.m.) LONDON, June 20. With a view to lightening the 'plane scicntific instruments valued at £800 had to be left behind. These, together with the surplus equipment and stores, were placed in 'plane N24, though it is most unlikely that tile 'plane will over be seen again. A bundle of letters was deposited in the petrol tank, which is very light, and may be discovered some years hence. The explorers relate that they saw a bearded seal, also some auks and two geese, which, is most interesting, as hitherto it has been assumed no animal life existed north of the latitude of 85 degrees.—A. and N.Z.
