DUE TO DELUGING RAIN RESIDENTS JEOPARDISED. CYCLONE MOVING SOUTH. (Received 10 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. ... Heavy, continuous rain and cyclonic .. "winds continued during the week-end I J pver the north and south coasts and the southern tablelands. As a result large tracks of country are under water and the whole countryside is flooded. Canberra, Braidwood and the whole catchment area are submerged. Telegraphic communication with southern towns is seriously interrupted and the railway lines are under water. Police with flood boats have been despatched to Forbes, where apparently the LachlaTi is flooded. There is no news from the north coast, but the gale's severity has abated and the cyclone is moving south. Shipping circles state that the gale was the heaviest for many years. A mailman at Queanbevan is missing, apparently in the flood waters. A. and N.Z.
