WELCOME VISITORS
There are several very good reasons why people in Whangarei and the neighbourhood sho.uld be very glad to welcome Miss Edna Thomas, who is to give recitals at the Town Hall tonight and tomorrow night. It is abundantly evident that Miss Thomas is an artist of .very , high repute and that her enteitainmonts possess a peculiar charm, in which novelty is an im-
portant factor. They should appeal to a wide circle and especially to those who like music., Miss Thomas is supported by <a harpist, who is very well spoken of, and a pianist, and the harp at any rate is an instrument that we 'hear very seldom; indeed, the visits of harpists are so very few and far between that we might almost suppose that angels are the only players. The excellence of the programmes offered by the visitors and the news that has come of their success in the large centres should be sufficient incentive to people to attend the recitals; but perhaps we may ' mention Another reason. We believe that Miss Thomas is the first famous artist to be sent to Whangarei by Mr E. J. Carroll, who is a very important person in the musical world of Australia and New Zealand. Of late Mr Carroll has been engaging some of the world's greatest entertainers, and if his first venture in Whangarei is successful he will, no doubt, send more artists here. We want the great musicians to come, and it is therefore worth our while to give Mr Carroll all the encouragement we can. Good houses at the Town Hall tonight and tomorrow night will create a favourable impression and entitles us to look for greater pleasures than we have yet enjoyed.
