TRADE IMPROVEMENT.
COUNTRY BUSINESS CONSPICUOUS. DAIRYING OUTLOOK GOOD. (Special to "Northern Advocate.' , ) WELLINGTON, This Day. Commercial reports indicate a steady improvement of trade, some houses being particularly busy while others are only normal. A bright spot is heavief* business with country districts, dnm to the opening of the dairy season under such favourable conditions, arid > this business has been greatly faeil-: tated by the earlier drying of. the roads this year. This has brought r about a great deal of business which"; was held over by the extremely wet. weather in the late autumn, on account of which the roads quickly became impassable. The most noticeable point is the remarkable demand for fertilisers during the last few weeks. Those farmers who were able to get their pastures, top-dressed before the welcome rain of last Sunday are now counting themselves very fortunate, as this will have a very noticeable bearing on their dairying production, especially as the rain was followed by warm weather. Pastures are now rapidly imyroving and the prospects are sufficiently bright to in- > duce a much larger volume of trade. Wholesale houses , reports; show that the city trade is well tained, but no further improvement except what has been brought about by distribution of recently landed goods from the South and overseas.
