WOMEN JUSTICES.
UPPER HOUSE REJECTS BILL. SEVENTEEN VOTES TO SIX. (Special to "Northern Advocate. ,, ) ! WELLINGTON, This Day. The Legislative Council yesterday rejected the Women Justices Bill by 17 votes to six. The Hon. T. W. Hislop expressed the opinion that women could be solicitors und could become Chief Justices. The Hon Sir Francis Bell disputed ! this and said he believed i,t was not by , any means clear that women could b'e appointed to the Supreme Court Bench of -this country. He hoped it was not 1 the case.
