JUTLAND REPORT.

MANY INACCURACIES. GIVEN PUBLICATION. WELLINGTON, This Day. Viscount Jellicoe, commenting on the cables from London dealing with, accounts of the Jutland Battle, said he was asked in 1920 to read the official account of the action and proposed alterations thereto. He domurred at first, being satisfied, with the competence of the committee entrusted with the preparation of the account and being of opinion it should be published without amendment by any officer who had /Served at Jutland. He was pressed, however, to read the account and did so. He then objected to many of the proposed amendments, again opining that an independent report should be published, but the First Lord had assured him that no alterations would be published without reference to him. The independent report was finally abandoned and instead the Naval Staff had the account now published drawn up by officers who had served at Jutland. This was sent to him and ho had drawn attention to inaccuracies, many of which were never corrected.—Press Assn.
