MAKING AMENDS.
IMBRIE ASSASSINATION. SEARCH FOR CULPRITS. ; GOVERNMENT UNDERTAKING. (Received 12.40 p.m.) TEHERAN, July 30. The American Legation has not received the Persian Government's reply to the American Note regarding the murder of Major Imbrie, United States Vice-Consul, but the newspapers publish a letter from the Foreign Minister to the American Minister, in whieli the former says that the Government and the nation are horrified and that every endeavour is being made to find the culprits, who. will be severely punished.
The Government willingly consents to transfer the remains of Major Imbri<e across Persia for embarkation on an American warship and to. defray expenses in that connection, also to pay proper compensation to the -widow. It is considering guarantees of the security of American citizens. —A. and N.Z.
