WOMAN S FRAUDS.
SYMPATHISERS VICTIMISED. AUCKLAND, This Day. ■ The exploits of a woman and her baby, who victimised sympathetic tradespeople and gained considerable publicity owing to the success of her operations, ended at the Police Court to-day. Ivy Ellen Dras was charged with obtaining money from business firms and others in the town, amountid| to £5 15s. The accused pleaded guilty.
Detective Hammond said the accused had been married fifteen months, her husband being a labourer and apparently not too energetic. Accused went to various places and got money by stating that she had left her purse at home or that her sister was in hospital and she had to walk to Mount Albert.
Mr F. K. Hunt, S.M., admitted accused to probation for two years on condition that she made restitution of the money borrowed. His Worship said her husband should be brought into Court to see that he provided proper maintenance for his wife.—Press Assn.
