Though the outbreak of cattlc disf>a«f has not been definitely diagnosed rinderpc-ft, most drastic steps have been taken tc prevent its spread. Strictest quarantine has been established. All animals showing symptoms are shot and incinerated. The Chief Inspector of Stock in Queensland Rays that if the disease proves to be rinderpest the matter is very serious, but the dry climate and sunshine of Australii are points greatly of favour of stamping it out. —A.N.Z.
