In the Assembly the Treasurer tabled the Estimates to T.pxt Jure, ar.ounting to £10,863,000.
A Bill was introduced to regulate the opium trnffi':, providing heavy lines, ranging from £1000 down, for persons found with the drug, or owners of houses permitting opium smoking. Ir default of payment of fines it :s proposed to impose a sentence of ten year.;' imprisonment.—A.N.Z.
