SPEAKERS REFUSED HEARING*

Mr J.- & Thomas, Labour MJP. fori Derby, addressing his constituent*, ~ said: "If the principles behind the | dockers' strike represent the inten--tions of any large mass of workers they will mean the end of collective bargaining and the end of Trade* Unionism itself." Messrs Gosling and Bevan, of the Transport Workers' Union, . were howled down by 5000 dockers when they attempted to put the union's case before the meeting. As soon as these two leaders mounted ■ the platform the crowd "tiooed". and cried: "Traitors! Swine f Cowards! Yon have- sold ns!" Unofficial.leaden thereupon called on the dockers to skofcr - contempt for the leaders by 'leaving the hall, which they did, only Gosling and Bevdn remaining. These leader* were greatly affected •by the treatment, and Bevan said he would make another effort to convince the men.—A. and. N.Z. V-
