HOUSEHOLDERS' MEETING.
HELD AT RUATANGATA. o Very little interest was taken in the !. householders' meeting held in the Rua- !. tungata school on Monday last. Those present were—Messrs W. F. Budling, 0 R. R. Hodge, L. H. Liiley, H. King, C. t A. Whimp, A. Wilson and E. S. Tre--1 amine. Mr Hodge, as chairman, submitted a g statement of receipts and expenditure s for the year ended February 28, 1923, 'showing that £38 9/9 had been received - during the year, which, with the balq J"nee carried forward from last year of i £8 8/0, made a total cf £46 17/9. The s expenditure amounted to £33 5/4, leaving a credit balance of £13 12/5 in j hand at the present time. During the year the school mistresses of the East (■nd West schools, Mrs Yates and Miss O 'Connor, held a very succesful entertainment in the local hall, with a net a financial profit of £9, which carried a £1 for £1 subsidy and is being devoted to improving the school surroundings. At the examination date the West g v school roll stood at 29 and the East at 19, and since then the West has in-, creased to 38 and the East to 25. At the inaugural School Committee meeting it was resolvec! to procure the % gramophone disc recording His Majesty the King's speech in connection ® with Etmpire Day, and also that a meeting of the committee be held at the ' East school next Monday at 3 p.m. to e go into the matter of re-blocking the East school.
