KAMO SPORTS.

SPLENDID NOMINATIONS,

The nominations received for the Kamo Sports, which are to take place "on Saturday, March 17, are exceptionally large. In the big ch'op no fewer than 25 nominations have been received, among whom are some of the best exponents of the art in the district. The chop for competitors under 18 yell's has also filled well. The maiden chop has drawn an exceptionally heavy list, no fewer than 30 having put in their nominations, the major portion of whom are local lads. Close on 200 taraire blocks of good quality have been secured and are now being made ready in order to avoid delay in . getting the chopping and sawing events off.

In tlie running events also exceptionally good entries lave been received. The mile has 14 contestants, the half-mile 12 and the cup,, run over a distance of 150 yards, has drawn 12 of the best runners in the district. The catering for the meeting has received attention of the committee and should deserve the patronage of the public.. Two splendid trophies for the schools championships have been donated, one by Mr J. Maurer and the other by Mr A. E. Simmons. To rem<fv£ any doubt the committee desires it to be known that the championships are .open events, post entry. Qunite a number think that these races are only open to children wh'o are now attending school, whereas they are open to all children who attended school last year so long as they are under 16 years of age. It is also wise to note that the Opua train has been delayed so as to leave Kamo at 4 p.m.
