Mr K. H. Selby, secretary of the Wellington Commercial Travellers' and Warehousemen's Blind Soldiers' and Sailors' Fund, has' received a cheque for £673 13s 3d from the Canterbury Commercial Travellers' and Warehousemen's Association, covering amounts £78 13s 2d proceeds of' concert, and £595, proceeds of trotting meeting conducted on behalf of the Commercial Travellers' and Warehousemen's Blind Soldiers' and Sailors' Fund-
In connection with the lakes claim made by the Maoris of the Rotorua district, the Attorney-General, Sir Francis Bell, has arranged to meet the natives at Tarewa on March 1 for the purpose of giving the decision of the Government in regard to the scheme of settlement decided upon by the Arawas at their last meeting at Maketu on October 18. The Arawas will ask Sir Francis to officially open the new large meetinghouse, Ivea, at Tarewa.
