The Takapuna races commenced today, the weather being fine, though overcast. Results are:—
Trial Handicap, of 250 sovs; seven furlongs—Jolly Gay, 7.0, I; Irish Knight, 7.11, 2; Pengwen, 8.1, 3. Battleplane, Prince Charles, Quaestor and Princess liell were scratched. Won by a head; third rse a length and a half away. Time—lmin 30see. Zealandia Handicap, of 450 sovs; seven furlongs—lJamutorc, 7.3. 1; Truthful. 0.1, 2; Clonmel, 0.7, 3. Some Fashion, Armorel, Hiero, Ai*ch Salute and Wrangle were scratched. Won by half a length. Time —lmin 29sec. Hauraki Hurdles, of 250 sovs; one mile and a half—Stirrup Cup, 9.G, 3; Miss Mclva, 0.5, 2; Wharepoa, 9.0, 3. No Bother and Ripeka were scratched. Won by four lengths. Time —2min 51 4-ssec. Takapuna Cup, of 1500 sovs; on;; mile and a half. —Landslide, 7.4, 3; Tinohoro, 7.8, 2; Geoffrey, 6.11, 3. P?nte was scratched. Won by a neck; Geoffrey two lengths away. Time—2inin 34 l-ssec.
