A COMPARISON WITH 1914
The current issue of the Monthly Abstract of Statistics contains an interest comparison between the "worth" of twenty shillings for purchase of what are know as the "throe food groups" in July, 1014, and September, 1021, respectively. If the average "worth" in July, 1014, is taken as twenty shilling, the worth in September. 1921, was ;2s 32d. The latter fig- [ ure represent san improvement on the figure for September 1020. which was lis 82-d. The lowest point reached be- ! tween September, 1920, and September, ■ 1021, was touched in December, 1020, when, on the July, 1014, basis, the worth of twenty shillings was only lis 3d, so far as the three food groups were conccrned.
