' Polling took place yesterday at a iby*election for 'the Teturn of one of the two candidates in the field as representative of the Mangapai Riding on the Whangarei County Council, the fun- • official count giving the following result: — Alexander Stephen 135 Patrick McKenna 93 Informal 4 A scrutiny of the rolls and the offi--cial election declaration will be made <fln Wednesday next. The poll was not a big one as only '232 votes were recorded, and there are 358 voters in the Mangapai riding, most vof -whom have of course more than one - "vote under the system of plural voting.
